Details about the R-Lite
- The light emitting diodes used in the HYPERION R-Lite System™ have been developed especially for sign illumination applications. Unique packaging of the ultra high intensity light emitting semiconductor chips results in uniform illumination throughout the wide emitting angle. In fact, the HYPERION R-Lite System™ will illuminate most 8 inch stroke channel letters by using a single row without creating “hot spots” and will illuminate most channel letters with depths as low as 2.5 inches.
- It’s easy to install and we mean it. Just unroll, pull off the protective paper liner, adhere to the back of your channel letter, cut to length with a common scissors, unplug any one of the light sources and plug in the power connector. Plus, the HYPERION R-Lite System™ fits into most 5/8 inch stroke areas. No extra drilling, no patterns, no special tools needed. If any other job will take several hours to install, HYPERION will be done in a fraction of the time.

Excellent physical characteristics, a bending radius of less than 0.05 inches and more than 500,000 bending cycle lifetime makes HYPERION R-Lite System™ the most flexible lighting system ever used in the sign industry. You can bend it to any angle, follow the tightest contours and most importantly, it can be installed in one continuous strip while using only one or two connectors per letter.
- Flexibility and ease of installation makes the HYPERION R-Lite System™ ideal for on site retrofitting of existing sign lighting systems. In fact, HYPERION R-Lite System™ was the first system approved by Underwriters Laboratories for on-site retrofitting of existing UL neon signs. There is no need for sign removal or sign replacement. Just HYPERION IT!
- An integrated constant current source IC keeps current nearly independent from load and supply voltage changes. The circuit is designed to supply constant current to the light emitting diodes even under severe environmental conditions resulting in constant brightness and extended lifetime. Protection circuits prevent damage to the diodes in case of overload, short circuit or excess heat. Light emitting diodes are also protected against reverse polarity as well as excess voltages up to 40 V.
- The life expectancy of light emitting diodes in perfect laboratory operating conditions (20mA at ambient temperature 25°C/77°F) is generally over 100,000 hours. In the Summer, the temperature on interior walls of aluminum channel letters can rise up to 120°C/250°F. Our sophisticated thermal management protects light emitting diodes from overheating and most importantly, avoids their direct contact with hot aluminum walls. The superior thermal management, plus regulated operating current of no more than 22mA, ensures the extended lifetime advantage of the light emitting diodes used in the HYPERION R-Lite System™.
- With a power consumption of only 0.9 Watts per linear foot, the HYPERION R-Lite System™ is the most efficient sign lighting system available today. It is hard to believe that you have to build two or three average HYPERION channel letter signs to match the power consumption of a single 100W incandescent bulb. Further, with the HYPERION photovoltaic solar system you can power your sign independently without direct connection to any outside power source.
